Jerome Henry Foundation Scholarship Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Who Can Apply?​

    • The JHF Scholarship is available to:​

      • Canadian Citizens or Permanent residents​

      • You must live in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

      • Students planning to attend a recognized post-secondary education or training program and/or already enrolled in a post-secondary program (e.g., college, university, trade school) in the upcoming academic year. 

      • Students must be able to demonstrate a need for financial assistance

  2. When is the deadline for the JHF Scholarship?

    • Applications are due on Tuesday, May 31st, 2022.​

    • Mailed in applications must be post marked by due date.

  3. Where do I send my application?

  4. What are my chances of receiving a scholarship?

    • The JHF Scholarship is competitive, however there are a number of things you can do to strengthen your application. Make sure to include all the documentation requested, and dedicate plenty of time to write your application. In particular, clearly communicate your financial need, motivation for studying and how gaining a scholarship will support your ambitions. ​

  5. How are scholarships reviewed?

    • The scholarship committee scores applications based on our criteria, with considerations of financial need, personal statement, academics, work and community experiences, and involvement in extra-curricular activities. ​

  6. Do I have to be attending university to be eligible?

    • No. ​

  7. When will I be notified of the status of my application?

    • Successful applicants will be notified by email in June, stating if they will be receiving the scholarship.​

  8. Can I defer my scholarship?

    • No. 

  9. What will I need to submit in order to receive scholarship funding?

    • ​Students must prove their letter of enrolment in order for funds to be released. Students must complete a short bio about themselves and their program of study.
